Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Rogue, Storm and Wolverine. Marvel’s marvelous superhero mutants, the X-Men, are the subject of one of the hippest new style collaborations – between KITH and ASICS.
KITH – the American fashion and lifestyle brand established in 2011 by footwear and clothing designer Ronnie Fieg – has teamed up with Japanese sportswear giant ASICS to pay tribute to the timeless comic book-turned-movie characters during their 60th Anniversary Year.
Conceived and introduced to the Marvel Universe by the late great comic book legends Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in September 1963, the superheroes live on (not only with Wolverine’s highly-anticipated return in the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie) in sneaker form.
With ASICS’s GEL-LYTE III model as the canvas, each X-Men character receives their own special pair of shoes. For example, Beast’s shoes feature a blue suede trim, reminiscent of his muscular furry frame, whereas Cyclops’s model shows off a shiny nylon blue collar, giving off a similar vibe to his armor.
Not only does this collaboration between KITH, Asics and Marvel birth some fresh kicks, but each pair also include a holographic silhouette of their respective character, along with a co-branded blind box and a PSA-graded trading card, ranging in rarity.
With such a collaboration paying tribute to such an iconic superhero line that has been kept alive in various forms, comes a market ranging in all ages.
Whether you grew up in the 1970s with the comic-book run, or are a millennial that enjoyed its historic revival in movie theaters during the early 2000s, these limited edition sneakers appeal across multiple generations, combining nostalgia with truly hip designer influenced fashion.
