At first, we thought this was the work of The Onion. But in reality, it’s an extremely smart idea. On June 1 & 2 the White House will be launching a National Day of Civic Hacking where government agencies such as the Census Bureau and NASA will release data for U.S. citizens, developers and entrepreneurs to use to create innovations that help their communities. Just the thought of some 16-year old hacker being able to do some good with government data that he hasn’t already hacked gives us the warm and fuzzies.
