People have been nervous about the end to brick-and-mortar shops. Amazon has unveiled their first store in NYC. According to TechCrunch.com, “Amazon is expanding its brick-and-mortar footprint with a new kind of store, the company announced this afternoon.
On Thursday, the retailer plans to open an “Amazon 4-Star” store in New York, where all the items it sells are rated 4 stars and above, are a top seller or are new and trending on Amazon.”
This is a game-changer for the once, exclusively online retailer. The inventory in the store is directly reflective of how users are shopping online. The shelves are lined with highly rated products that people are actually buying. The store is divided in a nontraditional way – from “Most Frequently Bought Together” or “Most Wished For.” This concept marries up with the online persona of the shop with its mom-and-pop predecessors.
In addition, those who are Prime Members will be able to purchase goods at a discounted price. There’s no word on whether or not another Amazon 4-Star will be popping up in other locations any time soon.
