Aren’t we always trying to find a new way to introduce children to the arts and opening up their creative persons? As important as it is, it can be challenging finding the resources to do so. Well, The Tate Liverpool Gallery in England chose to face those challenges head on and put the creative stage at the heart of its gallery. With the help of local youths, a brainstorming gathering of workshops and events the children wanted the gallery to have inevitably turned into a three-week art program named, Art Gym. Mirroring a real gym design and atmosphere, Art Gym has life-drawing seminars and photography classes instead of treadmills and bench presses and focused art stations for members to explore their creative potential. Equipped with a small cinema, spa, boxing ring and drop-in tutorial, the space is a member’s dream come true! The gym’s instructors are a collective group of gallery members who help to assist the pint-sized members as creative personal trainers and mentors. Art Gym is a fantastic way to help kids explore the arts and participate in their own art-making workout. Well done The Tate Liverpool Gallery!
