While COVID-19 had slammed the breaks on our economy back to school shopping may help put many retailers back in the black. Retail’s second largest sales event annually is not what it was in years past. However, many sectors of retail have noticeably increased. Technology shopping has increased by 28% as students prepare for more online learning. There has also been a shift away from online to physical retail as we approach the start of school. This stems from a few factors. When consumers purchase more expensive tech goods, they would rather see and use the product in person. As we get closer to the start, there is less time for online purchases and returns, persuading consumers into physical locations with time as a restraint. While it will not be the back to school shopping season of years past, it is an olive branch retailers will happily accept.
