Those who have lost their sight now have hope that a new electronic implant will be able to restore visual capabilities in blind people. This previous version of this device features a mere 16 pixels to work with which is enough to help patients’ brains distinguish the difference between a cup, a plate, and a knife. The new version of the implant cranks the resolution up almost fourfold to a whopping 60 pixels. The research team hopes to make this technology available to the masses within the next couple of years at the price of $30,000.
