Cannes International Festival of Creativity is where thousands and thousands of artistically gifted people from all over the world unite in Cannes, France to find out where the future of the industry is and, more meaningfully, to celebrate the power and beauty that is creativity. At this year’s festival, the final night honored the Grand Prix in Titanium, Integrated and Film. ‘Fearless Girl’ (McCann New York) took home the prize for the Grand Prix in Titanium, ‘Boost Your Voice’ (180 L.A) won in the Integrated, and ‘We’re the Superhumans’ (Channel 4’s) was awarded in the Film category. And here is why these three creative pieces stood out from the rest. The Titanium award is given to work that is bold and unruly. ‘Fearless Girl’ is a bronze statue of a young girl that boldly stands across from the iconic Wall Street Charging Bull, with her hands placed firmly on her hips and her head titled high. It won because, “it’s about time we stand up for women, and not just women. It’s fighting against fear. Especially in a world riven with fear” stated Ogilvy & Mather’s CCO. ‘Boost Your Voice’ is a campaign designed to help all the minority communities have a voice in U.S. presidential races. It won because it beautifully articulated the importance of all voices being heard and how intermedia is directly integrated into our culture now and its immense impact. ‘We’re the Superhumans’ shined a spotlight on the 2016 Rio Paralympics in a Frank Sinatra style with a simple three piece message, ‘Yes, I can’. This work won because it is truly inspiring, powerful, and above all helps push humanity positively forward.
