We’ve recently discovered Roads & Kingdoms, a beautifully designed digital magazine originally created in Burma as a Tumblr by members of the foreign correspondence, R&K has became a home for reports on everything from the Burmese civil war to dissident MCs to the perils of rancid crab. This fascinating site covers a superb blend of food, music, culture, travel, photography and war. Howard Chua-Eoan’s column is devoted to his twin obsession, cocktails and carnage. His clever writing takes you to the unexpected, like imagining Leo Tolstoy and Marie Antoinette writing a cookbook edited by Salvador Dali. If you’d rather look than read, check out the Foodporn series where the entire staff posts mouthwatering images of delicacies from around the globe. Sign up for their newsletter or follow them at @roadskingdoms on Twitter.
