When it comes to food and beverage, what better way to advertise your new product than to offer it to your customers for free? There’s a catch, though… and if you didn’t pay attention in high school Spanish then you might be in trouble. Nothing beats a Corona with a lime but following the spiked seltzer craze over the past decade, they decided to jump in the deep end with their brand-new Hard Seltzer Limonada. This refreshing drink is “inspired by authentic Mexican limonada recipes and made with a splash of real lemon and lime juice”. The real question is—how do you stick out from all the other hard seltzer brands that have already gained a cult following (ahem, White Claw).
Corona caught everyone’s attention when they installed a voice-activated vending machine with their seltzers in Las Vegas. In order to get a free seltzer, you had to ask in Spanish. The magic phrase? “Dame una Corona Hard Seltzer Limonada, por favor.” Get it right—get a free drink and some praise, “For a Spanish speaker—a true Mexican drink.” Get it wrong—get a one-month subscription to Duolingo Plus to brush up on those Spanish skills. Either way, Corona took what was yet another hard seltzer and made it their very own.
