Fashion Police: 2016 Halloween Edition

October 31, 2016

Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without the ghosts, pumpkins, vampires, and witches. But this year’s décor and costumes gave us something new to pick from. Politicians, Pokemon players, superheroes, comic back characters, and more slayed this year’s in store and online sales. Rubie Costume Inc. in New York, the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of Halloween costumes, sold mostly superhero and Star Wars costumes across all ages. Clown masks sales were up 300% from last year due to the creepy clown sightings (some even causing criminal activities) nationwide. The creepy clown menace became so real Target actually pulled a few scary clown masks off its shelves and out of its online stores just two weeks before Halloween. “We are against any usage of a clown-masked persona to terrorize the general public,” said Joshua Thomas, Target spokesman; a strong message from a large retail brand. Staying on trend, costumes that are DIY are always a popular choice. Goodwill reported that DIY costumes were on a more dramatic upswing this year. Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad was a popular pick for adults and children with the handmade and cost-saving Halloween feel. Costumes are a great way to be expressive and creative, but should always be socially appropriate! #trickortreat
