Fashion styles from the 1990s have heavily influenced the way Gen Z, or the “Zoomers,” are dressing. With the help of social media apps such as Tik Tok and Instagram, different ideas on how to style different pieces, and outfit inspiration, can be quickly disseminated and readapted per each new viewer. Because of this, more and more young people are reminiscing on older generations’ fashion choices, even if millennials and older had to live through the trends when they weren’t as cool. For example, skinny jeans are cancelled, tiny sunglasses are a recurrent statement piece, and tie-dye is a staple in any trendy 20-something-year-old’s closet.
Gen-Z has been deemed the most economical, financially-stable, body-positive, and health-oriented generation. Not to mention, they are also the biggest generation alive. So, it may be worth taking a note from their book on how to be fashionable. Whether we like low rise jeans or not, they’re cool if Gen Z says they are.
