Now, this is cool. Layers on layers of glass each with different mediums in the shape of a human body. All together, Dustin Yellin has created a series of transparent sculptures of the human body in all stages of motion, but with a central theme: dancing. This is for the New York City Ballet after all. Described by the artist as “window sandwiches”, these works of art are aesthetic masterpieces. The process behind each of the 15 pieces is just as interesting as the finished product. The Yellin and his team took each piece of glass and, using mediums such as clippings from magazines, spare parts, and even garbage found on the street, free formed a human body in various stages of dance. Then, they layered each piece of glass on the next until these visceral human bodies took shape. The collection is on display now at the Lincoln Center.
