We all know that people tend to drink a lot on St. Patrick’s Day. It’s kind of assumed. There are literally hundreds of pub crawls devoted to the day. So whether you’re fresh off the boat or just celebrating for the fun of it, here’s a break down of alcohol consumption for the most widely-celebrated Irish day of the year. Not surprisingly, of the 1337 participants, 54% are drinking beer on St. Patrick’s Day. 49% of participants only drink green beer on that day (which begs the question: what other day are people drinking green beer on? The majority is drinking green beer on other days? But, I digress). Guinness seems to be the beer of choice on March 17th. However, if you’re looking for something just as authentic, but with a different taste we suggest you try: Murphy’s Irish Stout, O’Hara’s Irish Wheat, Smithwick’s Irish Ale, Porterhouse Brewing Co. Oyster Stout, O’Hara’s Celtic Stout, Beamish Irish Stout, Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale, Harp Lager, or Murphy’s Irish Red. They all do the job. So, have an awesome St. Patty’s Day and remember to be safe (but also have fun).
