In 1975 Nicholas Nixon embarked on what would be a forty-year journey with his wife, Bebe, and her three sisters. As a photographer he was looking to take a simple portrait of the Brown sisters, but what happened was so much more. There are now forty portraits that celebrate sisterhood. Nicholas Nixon: 40 Years of the Brown Sisters celebrates the 40th anniversary of the series and is currently on display in the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.
