It is a Win for the Philadelphia Eagles or Crisco?

January 26, 2018

The Philadelphia Police (@PhillyPolice) tweeted “Now comes the time in the night where we must warn everyone about the dangers of Saturated Fats. Cheers for #Foles! Jeers for #Poles! It’s a long way down, baby. Celebrate responsibly!” Crisco had a rare moment of sports fame thanks to this tweet and the Philadelphia Police, who used Crisco to grease the light poles to keep the very passionate, excited and enthused Eagles fans from climbing them. Ironically, Crisco doesn’t even have a Twitter handle, but did post on Facebook “there are better (and more delicious ways) to use Crisco for game day!” It’s exposure every brand wants. “The Philadelphia Police needing your product around the Eagles locking down a Super Bowl berth is the kind of exposure that a brand can’t buy. A paid campaign by Crisco would solidify for a larger audience, the association between their band and playoff football victory,” commented a brand analyst. Philadelphia used this approach in 2008 before the Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series. It didn’t stop everyone then and now. It’s not a rumor, Philadelphia fans are passionate and are still remembered for throwing snowballs at ‘Santa Claus’ after losing a game in 1968. Now, what will the city do IF they win the Super Bowl?
