Four cities and dozens of shows later, fashion month has finally come to an end. Yet there was one event that got everyone talking more than the rest. Versace’s show in Milan had a surprise ending that took us back in time to when Jennifer Lopez first appeared… in the same dress from 2000.
With minor alterations, J.Lo closed out the show wearing her iconic dress from the Grammy Awards almost two decades ago. It was this dress that helped create Google Images.
After the Awards in 2000, a record number of people were searching for “Jennifer Lopez’s green dress”. This made Google realize they needed something new in their search engine that could help with people’s need to see the dress. Thus, Google Image Search was born.
Versace gave tribute to Google at the end of their show, right before J.Lo came onto the runway. Once again, the green Versace jungle print has the whole internet talking as much as it did 19 years ago. Without it, we may have never been gifted with Google Images. Thank you, Versace and J.Lo.
