Some of the most fundamental lessons learned in pre-K or kindergarten reside in social interactions. However, with a pandemic causing social distancing and restrictions, allowing kindergarteners to learn how to share a toy or wait their turn in line virtually became a challenge. As a result, over the past year, parents may have questioned the value of sending their children to an online school. According to NPR, the National Center for Education Statistics released a study showing that “kindergarten enrollment fell 9%, and pre-K enrollment fell 22%” last year. With such a steep decline in one year, as students return to in-person learning, schools may wonder whether enrollment will skyrocket this fall or plateau to a typical rate.
