After over a year of hardships, loss and most importantly, rebuilding, the Tokyo Olympics will be held this summer 2021. However, this year the games will look a little different as fans and spectators from other nations will not be attending in person. While the world is trying its best to return to a cross between the “old normal” and “new normal,” who can blame the Olympics for making this decision in hopes of continuing to move forward?
Certainly not NBC, as the broadcast network pivoted to use this as an opportunity to make headlines with their extensive coverage of the games and ‘Rings Around America’ campaign. NBC announced the expansion of coverage for the summer 2021 games with over 7,000 hours of streaming. Additionally, this week the network kicked off its ‘Rings Around America’ tour where a life-sized set of Olympic rings will make a debut driving across the country starting in Los Angeles.
So while we may not be able to show our support in Tokyo this summer, we can find comfort in knowing that the games will be highly covered and accessible so we can cheer from the safety of our couches.
