Must See TV

January 12, 2018

One of the best parts of a new year is the influx of fresh, new shows. In 2017, our TV screens were graced with hits like ‘Big Little Lies’, ‘Dear White People’, & ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’. While many of the successes were courtesy of streaming platforms, Netflix dominated with their “throw-content-at-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks-strategy.” With the bolstering success of TV, we have seen huge stars on the smaller screen and this trend is continuing through 2018. The Atlantic has curated a list of thirty-six shows that they believe will be the talk of the town this year. Predictions include: A Netflix original called ‘End of The F**king World’,’ 9-1-1’ which is by the creators of American Horror Story and The Trade which is a five-part docuseries about the opioid crisis on Showtime. One of the most anticipated documentaries to debut this year is ‘David Bowie: The Last Five Years’. The film which is meticulously researched and assembled after Bowie’s death in January looks at five key years in the singer’s life. It toggles back and forth between decades, drawing connections between song lyrics to video. As Bowie beautifully says, “I’m not a Dylan…I’m not somebody who can stoically write a clear picture of what’s happening. But I can leave a very strong impression of how I feel about it.” An impression for sure. Are you going to be someone who watches?
