Most people know Toys R Us for its friendly giraffe mascot and endless isles of shiny toys. Recently, the liquidation of the beloved toy chain’s 700+ locations has taken the Internet by storm with thousands of people lamenting the loss of this nostalgic childhood landmark.
Despite this unfortunate end, some good news has surfaced; an anonymous Good Samaritan has purchased one million dollars worth of Toy R Us’ inventory in North Carolina to donate to needy children. The mystery donor bought the remaining inventory of the Raleigh, North Carolina location and the employees of this location have spent their last days packing up the merchandise into trucks for donation.
Although the identity of the buyer still remains unknown, many predict that it was a wealthy celebrity, philanthropist, or even Amazon may have purchased the toys! Regardless of the buyer, it is uplifting to hear that some of the final news about the beloved toy chain is positive and hopefully the children who receive the toys will appreciate the gesture as much as the world has.
This random act of kindness took the internet by storm – hundreds of tweets poured in to celebrate the goodwill – thanking the buyer for giving these young children the chance to have toys that otherwise may have been out of reach.
