The Boston Marathon took place on April 16th, 2018 and it drew immense crowds who were gearing up to run the 26.2 miles. Athletes pounded the pavement and put their training to the test to take on the crazy challenge. Monday’s Marathon brought dismal weather that prompted runner Sarah Sellers (who is a nurse by trade) to conquer the run with less than conventional training under her belt. Sellers prepped by running no more than 100 miles a week (elite runners usually complete 140 miles weekly) and a workout plan from her college running coach. With a laid-back attitude and a sense of camaraderie between her and her group of almost elite runners, Sellers began to run. “She knew it was a big pack up front, but did not notice that some of the top runners were dropping out because of the conditions. In the final miles she was picking off a fair number of women, but did not fully grasp what that meant.” Sarah Sellers continued to run and ended up finishing in second place, which was much to her surprise. When asked what her plans were post run, she said she wanted to run another marathon but next time? Hopefully there was better weather.
