Someone Pass Me a Bucket of Ice

August 16, 2019

Summer is almost over (*tear*) and boy has it been a hot one. Just last week, it was announced that July 2019 was “the hottest month ever recorded on Earth.” Good, so I wasn’t just profusely sweating for no reason.

Europe and the Arctic got hit the hardest, and if you were in a European city during their heat wave you can agree. Other parts of the world also saw above average temps, even Antarctica, which was “less cold” than usual.

Many scientists are saying the extreme heat is directly linked to climate change. While it is not definite, multiple research groups have found human-induced climate change is increasing the probability of these heat waves.

With raging wildfires, record ice melts, and even deaths, this heat could be a wake-up call that we need to start taking better care of our planet. After all, no one wants to have to stay inside cooling off all day because outside is unbearable and even dangerous.
