Spotify’s New Venture

Music is something that has always brought people together, allowed expression and served as a benchmark of culture for countless generations. Spotify has been a platform where people can get their music with ease. The company has grown to be one of the largest streaming platforms – with a community of about 70 million– but it’s about to grow some more. A job posting on the company’s site has left the music world buzzing with curiosity of their possible next venture. The company posted that they were looking for a Production Manager for Hardware Manufactures (in Stockholm, Sweden where the brand was created) and teases that “Spotify is on its way to creating its first physical products.” The company has yet to reveal what tangible product they are currently creating, which has left lots of room for speculation. Some theories include creating an item that is uniquely indicative of Spotify as a brand – like when Snapchat released the “Spectacles” glasses. More commonly, people believe that Spotify is going to release their own version of the Amazon Echo or Apple’s incoming HomePod. “Spotify is most likely working on its own music product like a smart speaker, a wearable device like headphones, or something else that might elevate its software experience.” As avid Spotify users, we’re excited to see what it could be.
