The Great Leap “Generation F” needs to make.

February 4, 2014

We aren’t ones for spreading gloomy forecasts, but this piece in the Harvard Business Review seemed worth consideration. It’s true, the world is adjusting to the new dynamics of globalization and our ever-expanding technologically enhanced world. Recent grads face unknowns parents struggle to understand as a high school principal friend recently explained that his school is focused on delivering a broad base of knowledge because they have no idea what careers will be available to their students. According to author Umair Haque, Gen-F is going to have to make great leaps in every aspect of work, life, and play. They need to create new ways to measure progress (like the Social Progress Index); new political parties (like the Pirate Party); new methods of governance (like Holacracy); financial institutions and financial instruments (like Square), so money can get to useful places; ways to provide healthcare, food, education, and transport. In case you wondered as we did, Gen-F stands for the generation who will fix the world. Quite a tall order.
