The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Blockbuster

July 22, 2016

We called it! And we have a post to prove it. We predicted Manus x Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology would be a ravishing success. Turns out, our prophecy was accurate. The exhibition is becoming the latest blockbuster for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. The exhibit has been seen by more than 350,000 visitors since May 5th, and shows no sign of slowing down. Last year’s exhibition, “China: Through the Looking Glass”, holds the highest attendance record with 815,992 visitors. We have high hopes it’s going to be dethroned as MxM has just been extended an additional three weeks to close on September 5th.“Manus x Machina” showcases the bridge between couture and technology in high-fashion houses. Presented in the Museum’s Robert Lehman Wing, the presentation chronologically takes its visitors through the beginning of 19th century haute couture to current mass production. “I had a feeling this year’s exhibition would be a success for the Museum. It embodies both the evolution of fashion and the crossover from hand-crafted pieces to machine-made items” expressed milk*’s Chief Creative Officer Kelly Coveny. We’re glad to see people taking an active interest in art and experiencing this piece of artistic beauty in our world. And, you know, we called it.
