The Beatle freaks at Milk* were saddened by the loss of Sir George Martin, AKA, the REAL fifth Beatle. He was the first to sign the fab four to a record deal and went on to produce most of their music. Martin worked with them individually even after they broke up.
Many claimed to be the fifth Beatle, but Martin was the real deal. He began as a stabilizing father figure in the crazy world of rock and roll and remained a close collaborator throughout each Beatle’s career.
The first time he met the Beatles he thought their songs were weak, but felt there was something interesting and different about the shaggy Liverpoolians. He often said that their humor won him over.
Martin was a modest man, always playing down his accomplishments, yet he won almost every music award there is. He received a Grammy in 1967 for Sgt. Pepper and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. He was even knighted in 1996. He will be remembered as a great man who revolutionized the music industry.
