It’s that time of year again. But we’re not talking holiday season, we’re talking…basketball season. Games kicked off this month, and a few players quickly rose to the forefront. One of them was UNC freshman Cole Anthony.
Anthony had a record-breaking first game, scoring 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. This was the highest amount of points ever by a UNC freshman in a debut. Anthony scored more in this game than many legendary stars from UNC, including Michael Jordan.
In addition, Anthony tied for the third-most points by a freshman in the school’s history. He scored as many points in this game as the Syracuse team did in their opener against reigning champion Virginia. The impressive game put Anthony in the projected top-5 pick for the 2020 NBA Draft because already being on the Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year watch list just wasn’t enough. One thing is for sure, basketball season is off to a wild start.
