Strength comes in all shapes and sizes, especially in Orem, Utah. A nannycam video shows toddler twins, Brock and Bowdy, in matching pajamas playing around and climbing into dresser drawers. But because of their combined weight, the dresser tipped over, trapping Brock underneath. In the video, it appears Bowdy, who managed to wiggle himself out, quickly realized that his twin brother needed saving. He went to the other side of the dresser to first assess the situation before taking action. Placing his two tiny hands against the top of the dresser and his right foot forward, Bowdy pushed as hard as he could, sliding the furniture off his brother. “We were so proud of him,” the parents said. “We were so proud with him helping his brother.” Well, the video created a very open dialogue about the importance of child safety and prevention. “This video shows the importance of attaching all chests and dressers to the wall. We want to emphasize that the best way to prevent the tip-over of chests of drawers is to anchor products to the wall”, IKEA’s immediate statement read after the video went viral (IKEA manufactured the dresser in the video). “We were hesitant to post this video initially,” the father said to CNN, “but a lot of parents have probably made the same mistake that we made”. The CDC and other safety and prevention organizations urge parents to take all necessary steps to ensure no incidents like this happen in your home.
