The rise has been meteoric for 21-year-old Naomi Osaka, who made a name for herself by defeating Serena Williams in the 2018 U.S. Open final and then proceeding to win her first Australian Open in 2019. Now ranked No. 1 in the world, Osaka is starting to reap the rewards of her fame, as she and Nike announced an endorsement deal this week.
Osaka had previously partnered with Adidas, but is now excited about this new deal. She expressed those feelings in her own public statement about the partnership.
Osaka will be wearing the swoosh on the court starting at the Stuttgart Grand Prix, before proceeding to support Nike on a bigger stage in the French Open in May.
There have likely been a lot of “pinch me” moments for Osaka in her brief career so far, and undoubtedly, this is another.
